Ok fellow Colorado Timberliners! Here is where we shall try to coordinate the meeting that is hopefully going to take place next month. List your schedule with the dates that you know you will be busy and when you think you will be free so we can work on getting a date set in stone.
For myself, I will go ahead and say that I am free for the whole month. I have nothing planned that can't be changed to accommodate the groups needs. My b-day is the 16th so that weekend my friends might want to take me out but that can easily be worked around. Lets start shooting some ideas around and figure out a game plan and we are going to have a hell of a good time! Where ever we go I hope they have a better dance floor for Cindy and Greg to shake a leg on!! ;D

"March Gatherin"....hmmmm...sounds like a roundup of something lost....haha...well close anyways!...we are scattered from border to border!! ;D I think the subject title fits perfectly! I have nothing set in stone yet, except Easter and my nephews b-day(same weekend). The 19th we have a wedding, but not sure if we are going, its one of those things if we have nothing better planned then we will go. Hopefully we can work something out that fits in everybodies schedule! As far as dance floor I wouldnt worry about that, getting together is most important. I know March is a month unpredictable, planning something outdoors may be chancy, if anyone has some ideas please shoot them out on here and see what we can get planned!! Cindy

I figured "Gatherin" was an appropriate term for trying to gather us all up in one spot at the same time!!! ;D Maybe I should have called it a "March Round-up"!! ;D
Well, depending on what Ed is able to do I would like to meet closer to your place or somewhere of the likes. I want to get out of Colorado Springs and away from the city. I have not been away from the Springs since I went home for Christmas and that does not really count. If it is nice enough on the weekend that we choose I would like to do a trail drive or something. I know most of the mountain trails will not be passable but even if we can get on a forestry service road or something that is off the beaten path I would be happy. Thats just my two cents on something to do.
However, we could always revert back to Ed's idea for last weekend!! ;D That is one of the best ideas I have heard of in quite some time!!! ;D

I will agree Ed's suggestion sounded great! man what a weekend that would be! Closer to here...hmmm...without skiis, snowshoes or snow mobiles I cant think of any roads off beaten path that we can use right now do to to much snow or closed. We have been doing a lot of snowmobiling, and yet have not had the chance to get the x-country skiis out. I think one play toy replaced the others...lol. Thats going to change! Crested Butte got 2 feet of fresh snow from Friday-Monday. Cant get trucks and jeeps off maintained roads there, unless you can fly! Taylor Reserviour area has to much snow as well, they plow roads to trading post, we unload sleds at marina. Theres an idea, but thats a long trip for you guys as wont be able to get over Cottonwood till end of May or later, as there is a lot more snow up there this year than in years past. We have been ice fishing a few times on Taylor and have done well catchin Mackinaw. Has been a few 20+ pounders caught the last few weeks, just not on my hook! But one of these days!! We have the snowmobiles to shuttle everyone down onto lake, but then again, if the weather is nasty Taylor can be very misserable. The ice is about 3-4 feet thick right now, but ice will start deteriating in about a month depending on what weather is like, if it stays cold or continues to warm up.

Damn snow!!!! ;D That is one of those bitter sweet things. I love the snow but it ruins all of my off-road fun! Do you and Greg snow shoe? I have always wanted to do that but never had the chance to do so. If that is something that everyone would be interested in that would be fun. I know it is hard work but it is rewarding at the same time. One thing that I really want to keep in mind is Max. I don't know how much he can or can't do if he is able to go. I want it to be entertaining for all of us not leave anyone out. If he gets a second or two to drop a line on here or if you can ask him what he would like to do that would be great. The more ideas the better. And having more than one idea is always a good things in case something falls through. Speaking of falling through (or not in this case) I have never been ice fishing either. I have always wanted to do that as well. I never tried because I don't think I would be able to get my fly to land in that little hole in the ice!!! ;D I have a hard enough time getting it into the stream!! ;D Just kidding. I have never been anywhere to really go and I don't have any ice fishing gear so that is the main reason. Let's get some more ideas kickin. These sound pretty good so far.

I know to well how this snow can put a damper on things, but just have to live with it and love it, for we cant change it and I wouldnt want to either! And I sure as heck dont want to live where there is no snow.
Greg and I have some of the original snowshoes, you know the ones that are really long and about 14" wide, made from wooden frame and laced cinew, and leather bindings. Not these new fangled aluminum or fiberglass styles. We havent used them for years, we took up x-country skiing and snowshoes fell behind. I love to snowshoe, its great exercise and much easier to learn than cross country skiing. I am not sure Max would be able to snow shoe though, not sure what he is up to yet.
In the 30 years I have been icefishing I have never fallen through the ice...lol...once the ice melted off from bank about 5 feet on a warm afternoon, so had to try jumping the open water...lol..I didnt make it, went up to mid thigh in water, man that was cold! Ice on Taylor is 3-4 feet thick right now, no chance of falling through. Depending on weather the ice should be good for another month. There have been some 20+ pounders (Mackinaw) caught in the last few weeks on Taylor, but not on my hook!...lol..but one of theses days! We have extra poles and can round up more if we need to, we use our spinning reels with 10 or 12 pound test line. We use large jig heads and rubber jigs with a chunk of sucker meat on the hook. Maybe you should bring your fly rod and reel, great place to practice! nothing to get snagged on!;...lol...and if you get good enough to hit that ice hole at 20 yards then you can fish anywhere!
Hey! You know of anywhere over there you can catch a bunch of suckers? I know, they are junk fish but thats the best for mackinaw. The places we catch them here are frozen over and cant catch them through ice very often, there are places here that sell sucker meat, if we need it. In the spring we go siening for suckers, and freeze them.

I'm always up for another get together. But I'm very much tied into my days off. Too new with this company to have any vacation either. Just plan something and I'll try to make it. Also, the first part of March, I'll be in Billings, MT hanging out with a friend.

Well then, we will either have to plan something on your days off and see if anyone can make it or do as we did last weekend and meet in the Springs or near there. ;D We will work something out.
Everyone have a great evening!

Also, the first part of March, I'll be in Billings, MT hanging out with a friend. Ed Since the only time I will be able to get to Cindy and Greg's is on the weekend and you can only go during the week, I don't think we will be able to make a trip with all of us to their place. So we will only be able to do something as a whole when Cindy and Greg come this way or we meet them somewhere close to here. I would not mind going their way by myself or with a friend other than from the group during the weekend. I never get days off during the week unless I take vacation. I have to save all of that for my Germany trip in May. Either way I am sure we will be able to work things out now and then when we can all get together.

Everyone have a great evening! Cindy I agree Cindy. We can always try to work something out. I don't want you and Greg to always have to come out here because it is a pretty long drive. No since in you two always having to make the drive. Ed and I are on completely opposite schedules so when we do something out your way it will either be without myself or Ed. Hopefully Max will be able to get in on some of this. Anyway, things will work out I am sure. I know we all have a good time when we get together so I really look forward to the next time.

Looks like in the next month or so I will have to make a trip back to the Springs. Got some shopping to do, and hopin I have better luck than I did in Denver last weekend. Never thought about checkin the fabric stores out in the Springs, have never had problems finding what I am looking for in Denver. But I did this time! Wish I could find a fabric outlet like these businesses do. Will let everyone know when I am going to make it over. Max said he would be up to makin the trip down as well, if he wasnt out of town. He said he has some plans and wants some input from all of us. We would enjoy having company on this side of the mountain! If a day of fun has to be planned during the middle of the week just let me know a few weeks in advance so I can take the day off. Always looking for a good excuse to take a day off. Weekends are generally always open. Cindy

Maybe we could do a daytime activity and then meet up with Ed around 6:30 in the evening again for dinner and whatnot. shopping for fabric is not what I had in mind either!!! ;D Shopping for anything other than guns or Jeep stuff is not my thing. I go to the mall once a year to buy jeans and uderclothes!! ;D I hope Max will be able to make it. The next time you talk to him tell him I said hello. I don't see him on Yahoo much anymore. If I don't chat with you all before the weekend I hope you have a good one!

Eric,
I am not much of a mall shopper any more...used to enjoy it when Amber was still home, especially those years she was in highschool. Greg will go shopping with me, but it benefits him as well, I make all his shirts, and my sons. I would much rather be shopping for hunting and fishing gear. Or better yet be sittin on a bank somewhere tossin a fly.
You mentioned a daytime activity, you have something in mind that we can do in the next month or so? I dont get down that way, so I wouldnt have the foggiest idea what or where to go.
You have a great weekend as well Eric...that goes for everyone!!
