Finally some precip here. Looks like we got about 3" of snow outside so far here in Colorado Springs. If I didn't have to work, I'd be hunting!!

We got a skiff of snow last night, but coming back from Grand Junction last night was not to fun! And all those hunters that dont know how to drive these winter roads! The biggest bunt of this storm must have hit north of us. Although we did get some good snow here last week and the mountains around here have gotten from 4"-12". We have a few lost hunters around here, and if they were not found yesterday they had a cold night out there! One of the hunters has been missing since last weekend but wasnt reported missing till this Saturday, that does not make sense to me!! Ed, have you done any hunting yet? We have finally finished up with our big game hunting with the harvest of my 4x4 muley buck opening day of 2nd season. Son and his brother-in-law have bull tags for this season. It snowed on them so hard yesterday they couldnt see 20 feet in front of them. This fresh snow will help in finding the elk. Wish you were out there hunting!! Maybe call in sick....hahaha Cindy

Been helping Tracy's mom move, tryiing to sell my place or working overtime at work to make ends meet. Also been shopping for property in the Canon City area to start my business. Today I am going to the DOW office to hand in my elk tag. I was not able to get the vacation needed to go with my friends. Also my boss wants me to be in school that week. I'm really upset about the whole thing. Ed

Sorry to hear you didnt get a chance to hunt Ed. Maybe sometime this winter you and Tracy can make it over and do some coyote huntin with us, or some icefishin. I know its not the same as elk hunting but at least your taking time to get out. Sounds like you have more things going than you have time for, hope it slows down some for you!

Cindy That sounds great Cindy! However, Tracy and I don't share the same days off anymore. So it would be hard to make happen since I don't have any vacation with the new job. I haven't been ice fishing since I lived in WI about eight years ago. Can you drive out on the ice where you live? The lakes around here, you can not. Ed

The ice gets thick enough to drive out on it but I dont think it is allowed as we never have and havent seen anyone else ...we take snow mobiles and ATV's out on the ice...the ice on Taylor gets anywhere from 3-4 feet thick.
If you and Tracy ever do get a day off together by some mere chance, give us a holler! We have the ice auger, and can round up enough fishing gear.
This offer is open to anyone that dont mind the cold here, and loves the beauty of winter! (Just make sure you bring some warm clothes!)
Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Cindy When I lived in WI, driving on the ice was very common. Ever seen the movie "Grumpy Old Men"? Some people would make roads across lakes for short cuts. You would even pass through shanty towns! Little villages of ice shacks. Some would be very fancy with t.v and satalite dishes. Quite a sight to see. I used to cheat at ice fishing. I grew up on a lake. So I would punch holes on the ice in front of the house. Set up my tip-ups, then head for the house and watch football. Just look out the window every once in awhile! ;D Ed Ed

Dang, it's snowing here today. Sure needed to get some stuff done today outside. Looks like I'll be spending money on Ebay instead! Cindy, how are the snow levels over there. News reports here say Crested Butte is getting hammered.

You should come and see for yourself!! This is the first sunny day since last week, we got a lot of good snow here in Gunnison, I dont how many times I shoveled the walk out and everytime I did there was 3-4". Reports say we got around 2 feet total here, I think it was more, but it was so wet that it settled fast. Just what we have been waiting for!! A lot of snow packed in moisture! I havent been to Crested Butte yet as Greg has been working overtime and not home much. But our son said Crested Butte is beautiful! They got over 80" of snow since the 1st of the year and most of that just in the last week. You remember the drive we took after we came back down to Crested Butte? Up to Kebler Pass and over to Ohio Pass. Well there is a lodge near there called Lake Erwin, in two days they got 5 feet of snow and I dont know what they have gotten the last few days. Friends of ours said it was too much snow to even snowmobile on...haha...didnt dare go light on the throttle. Its sunny and gorgeous here today, and you guys are getting the snow now! ;D This has been a strange Janruary, when we should be seeing temps in the -20's and lower, we are sitting here basking in highs of +30's...wonder if we will see the normal lows of -30's and -40's this month. Wont hurt my feelings none if we dont see anything lower than -10's Enjoy the snow Ed! Hope everyone is enjoying this new year! Cindy
