A very good friend of mine went to a local archer shop to get a replacement Dacron String for his ancient wheel bow. That 35" string cost him $16.95 Plus $12.95 for tying in the peep and installing 2 brass nocks!!!!!!!!!! To me that is HIGHWAY Robbery! The worst part was that the seving knots at the peep were not tight enough, so they slipped on him and the Brass nocks were put on the string 3/8" NOCK HIGH!!!!!!!! If he would have brought me the bow and the new string I would have installed it, Served the peep good and tight, served in his nocking points and checked the tune on his bow for Free!!!!!!! He came here to shoot with me and he was having a Terrible time shooting! I know that he is a great shot, so I started checking for problems, That's when I noticed the Shoddy work and he told me what he was charged!!! I ended up redoing everything that so called shop had done. I wasn't happy in the least on how they treated my friend or how they did their work! The saddest part is, I used to trust this shop and I sent Lots of people to it! THEY WILL NEVER GET ANY MORE BUSINESS SENT THEIR WAY BY ME, MY SHOOTING PARTNERS NOR MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!! Dick

Sorry to hear he got bad work, but the price was most likely in line unless he bought the parts from the shop. I have to charge more when they bring in their own parts, but its free if they buy the parts from me. I don't want to be putting parts on bows from Cabelas or Bass pro.

Chasta, The sad fact is that he bought the parts from the shop and then didn't get them put on properly! Dick

THEY CHARGED HIM??? I never charge a customer if they buy the parts from me. That's Bull S***!!!! Sorry Grandpa I hate it when that kind of stuff happens. I've been fixing about 3 mistakes a week from other shops. It really upsets me.

Chasta, I found a string for his bow on ebay last night for $4.25 and $1.00 shipping! The steel buss cables were only $10 for the completed set! That shop told him he needs another set due to the age of his existing ones (17 years) and I agree; but they wanted $40 for them plus installation! Guess who is going to be getting a cable off ebay and who will do the work for him for FREE! Dick

Grandpaw, Just make sure the cables you are buying are new they sometimes bust up inside where you can't see. Guess that shop won't be seeing anymore business from your direction.
